Do you wear High Heels to work?

Do you wear highheels to work?

I love wearing highheels; there is just something about them that lifts your self-esteem. Now that I see the height of the heels that are in fashion, I think I will stick to the two inch or shorter heels.

It is so interesting that some women appear to sacrifice their health to wearing highheels. When you look at them you know that they are having problems walking in the heels. They prefer to look good and of course sexy legs in a pair of sexy heels always get a second gaze.

On one of my visits to a Bank I had the opportunity to wait in the lobby on the ground floor. You need to climb approximately ten or twelve stairs from the first floor to get to the ground floor.

I was quite amazed to see the number of women who were wearing highheels like the one above to work. These are much more than two inches high. They were quite focus on their walk, and this is understandable, since naturally if they walk too fast there is a chance that they may hurt themselves. I can only imagine their productivity level on the job.

As I continue to observe them walking slowly by I realize that they are already hurting themselves and they did not appear to be too concerned. Imagine being on your feet for seven to eight hours in these highheels.

The amount of pressure we put on the muscles in our calves when we wear the highheels is something we should be concerned about. Research has shown that excessive wearing of highheels results in knee, back and neck problems and long term issues like osteoarthritis. So we suffer for style – sexy legs with sexy shoes.

Here are a few suggestions that may help:

– Avoid wearing very high heels to work, keep them for your social events.

– If you have to wear highheels to work try to rest your legs at intervals. Keep a small stool or box under your desk and remove the shoes and rest your legs.

– You can also use a lower heel to walk around the office.

– Walk about three times a week in your flats for a minimum of thirty minutes.

– Engage in yoga or some stretching exercises so that your frame will be flexible enough to break any fall.
– Massage your legs after removing your heels.

– When you are purchasing your heels ensure that the shoes are not too tight or too big.

– If you are overweight then take action to reduce your weight now. A great way to lose the excess weight is to use a chewable tablet. Trimulean offers you just that – nothing to mix. Fits in your purse and is taken half an hour before meals.
Order a box of trimulean here: title=”http://www.trimulean.com/teamtrini3″>

Not interested in tablets then organic green tea or coffee has also proven to be helpful in losing the extra pounds, and you drink coffee or tea in any case, so you are just changing your brand to a healthier one.
Order your tea or coffee from organogold here:

– Be sure to consume adequate calcium enriched foods to keep your bones strong and healthy. You can also stock up on these calcium enriched foods for use in the office.

I would love to hear your views about highheels at work.

Is the coffee business expanding or are we now more aware of the coffee industry?

I do not know if you realize that Starbucks is now in India. They are all over the world and all the other fast food businesses are now offering coffee as part of their breakfast menu. It is as though the coffee business has expanded overnight and each cup of coffee is money in hand.

Just from seeing Starbucks offering a reward card and you can even get a $5 gift card, you have to know that there is some competition when it comes to including a cup of coffee in your menu.

Imagine if we were getting paid for each cup of coffee purchased by all those people we told about Starbucks or Mc Café or Dunkin Donuts coffee? You would have a profitable work at home business and you would be running all the way to the bank. All credit cards would be settled; as a matter of fact you would now have a debit card with money loaded on it. You would certainly have the new house and what about that car you have been checking out in the showroom?

The next company that is expanding its coffee offerings rapidly via a work at home program is organogold. Organogold has recently entered Japan and Russia. Who do you know in these places? You can rake in some good referral income from each cup of coffee they drink and you do not even have to be there. The list below shows the other countries organogold is in. Best of all everyone who is with organogold and spreads the word about organogold products like their coffee and tea are rewarded with cash.

Yes cash! This has become a tried and true work at home business.

The other interesting point with organogold is that this is not just coffee or tea blends this is the healthy stuff. The content of the various products have been developed to produce a great tasting coffee/tea or hot chocolate with healthy and wealthy benefits.
Review for yourself here: ://www.justhealthy.organogold.com

Are you going to settle for a $5 gift card or from $20 to $150 per referral? This is in addition to the other member benefits. You got to wake up and start getting paid for each cup of coffee that you refer.
Would love to hear your comments.

This is a list of the countries where organogold is being distributed:
The Americas
• US
• Canada
• Dominican Republic
• Ecuador

Sacrificing time for money BP situation

If the Managers or Supervisors of BP Oil really did sacrifice time for money, this is not unique to them. In business you hear and see this happening quite often.

Some of us, love to take short cuts. We are quite aware that the company policy has a prescribed method for doing something, but we realize that if we are able to complete the job another way it would save time and money. So we make the decision. This is probable what happened with BP Oil.

Think about it, as a Manager or Supervisor how many times have you operated outside the box or outside the company’s policies, because you feel you can save time and make more money? If you were at BP Oil what would you have done?

In the heat of the moment the adrenalin is flowing, the customer is there demanding some type of service that is not covered by policy, or the guys are there in the field or on the rig waiting on you to give the go ahead.

Is there time to analyze, to play out various scenarios?
What are your options? What impact your decision will have?
Are their lives involved?
What if your decision is not the right one?
Did the Managers at BP Oil reflect on all this?

Making more money for the company will definitely make you look good, or even finishing the project before the scheduled time. If this turn out well, it may even provide you with a promotion. You can see yourself winning branch of the year or company of the year. What about Project of the year?

Sacrificing time for money does not always work. You may take a short cut and end up with more problems than if you had taken the long way out. We all know this, and I am sure it may have happened to you several times.

Sometimes after you make the decision you recognize that a key part of the transaction was not completed or a process in the project was bypass and this would cause problems with the entire project. So what is more valuable time or money and what was valuable to the Managers of BP Oil?

As a Manager, Supervisor or even if you have your own business it is always good to ensure that when making any decision more so those where you are sacrificing time for money, that you consider all aspects of the situation:

– Explore various options – the what ifs.
– Get feedback – as Managers and Supervisors we do not always have all the answers.
– Review the costs of your decision – financial and non-financial (people/image).
– Is this within your authority?
– Do you have a backup plan?

You must remember that you would be accountable for whatever decision you make as in the case of the BP Oil officers or Managers. You cannot hide once you are the Manager, Supervisor or Business Owner you must be prepared to deal with the consequences of your decisions.

I would love to hear your views about time and money and BP Oil decisions.

What’s wrong with moonlighting?

Moonlighting is having a second job that your boss or the company you work for does not know about. It can be a great work at home job.

IMG_1886

Some organizations are very strict about moonlighting. They are of the view that once you sign their Employment Contract your time on and off the job belongs to them. This can be debatable as the view is that the organization should and does not have control over your personal time, and you should not be involved in any product or service that competes with your primary job, which is why most people opt for a work at home job.

Advantages of Moonlighting

1. Provides additional income which can be used for short and long term goals.

2. Increases your knowledge and networking skills, which may help with your primary job.

3. Provides some sense of emotional satisfaction e.g if you have a hobby which is financially rewarding like some aspect of the music industry.

4. It can be a great work at home job where you can involve your other family members if you choose.

5. Provides a backup if you have to leave your primary job.

Disadvantages of Moonlighting

1. It can be a challenge to balance both jobs.

2. Base on the details of your Employment Contract concerning moonlighting you can lose your primary job if the company finds out about your moonlighting.

3. It can be very time consuming eating away at your personal time for family.

Some known moonlighting jobs:
a. Teacher
b. Coach
c. Music Teacher
d. Part of a Music Band
e. Product Distribution – this is a huge industry that provides good returns and is expanding everyday as more people look for work at home options. This is the best work at home  option you can consider for moonlighting:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLFIe5eYF5k&feature=youtu.be. Email me – joseylifeline@gmail.com  after you watch the video.

There is nothing wrong with moonlighting if you do some proper planning:

 Know why you want a second job.

 Review your company’s policy concerning moonlighting or second jobs.

 Make sure you are not competing with your company’s products or services.

 As much as possible avoid targeting your company’s clients.

 Be discreet about targeting people on the job.

 Plan your time properly so that you have quality time for family.

 Be sure to review your moonlighting job selection properly.

 Once you have selected your second job. Work at it and give it time to blossom.

I would be happy to know your thoughts on this – Email me – joseylifeline@gmail.com after you watch the video.

How to recover from Hurricane Sandy

Regardless of how much planning you may do unpredictable situations like Hurricane Sandy can pose serious challenges to any business and your life overall. Here are some tips you may use to help you recover:

– Come to terms with the situation – it is what it is. There is no delete button for Hurricane Sandy, so save your energy because you need it to recover and also to provide support for your loved ones, employees, clients etc.

– Focus – start making a list:

o Personal:

Deal with all your personal and loved ones needs first. As a result of Hurricane Sandy do you have access to:

• Food
• Shelter – remember if you decide to clean up, take some pictures in the event you need to seek out any type of compensation.
• Clothing
• Funding
• Communication – If you need support to deal with the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy are there family or friends you can contact for help.

o Business

After reviewing your personal life situation, let’s look at recovery of your business after Hurricane Sandy:

– If you have a business disaster and backup plan for dealing with situations such as Hurricane Sandy and you have not put it into action, now is the time to put it into action. If not here are some things to consider for your business:

– Contact your employees to enquire about their well being.

– Check out the access to the location of your business. Are the roads cleared?

– Assess the actual structure of the building – walls, stairs, roof etc.

– Assess the utilities used for your business – electrical, lighting, heating, A/C.

– Take pictures or record (use a camcorder or your phone) of everything – you will need these pictures if you are entitled to any compensation as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

– Review your business insurance – are these acts of nature situations covered?

– Ensure the building is properly secured.

– Assess the condition of your products, water logged, expiry dates etc.

– Check out your business operational tools – cash register, computers, scanners, shelves, desk tops, desks, chairs etc.

– Review your business communication network – phones, internet etc. as the communication lines maybe down as a result of Hurricane Sandy.

– What about cleaning up? Can you get help?

– Is there any way you can operate your business from another location? What would you require to operate your business from this new location?

– How are you going to contact your customers? Do you have a list?

– If you have a list of customers and you can contact them, do so to enquire about their well being and the impact of Hurricane Sandy on them. This will show them that you care about them.

– What about your suppliers?

– Do you need to extend your business credit arrangements?

– How are you going to deal with your employees?

– Commodity items are easier to sell in these situations. If you have a commodity item e.g food supplies it makes sense to help by offering discounts or even some donations etc this would help increase your customer base.

– If you do not carry a commodity item, now is the time to explore ways to sell your products. Can you offer deals or partner with someone who has a commodity item? Think of valuable ways to use your product during this time.

– If you cannot do anything with your business right now consider volunteering, help people who are in need. You will be amazed at the return you will get for doing this.

– You can also pray, meditate or whatever you are comfortable with and ask for guidance and wisdom in dealing with the situation.

These are just some thoughts to keep you thinking. Whatever you do, keep the thought of disaster and problems out of your mind. Look at it as a situation or challenge and use your skills and talents to deal with it.

Yes you have the courage, skills and talents to deal with this.

Take it one day at a time. You can do it.

If this was helpful and you need to explore additional ideas let me know.

Using Foods to fight depression

This is the final part of my article ‘Depression and Life experiences’.

Using Foods to fight depression

When people are depressed the sadness and hopelessness feelings etc that they get are sometimes caused by the reduction of mood controlling molecules (serotonin, dopamine and norepinephrine). These are called neurotransmitters and they are responsible for controlling the thoughts and emotions in our brain. While therapy helps in facing the painful issues and exploring ways to overcome them thereby altering the level of neurotransmitters in the brain, the body also needs adequate supply of amino acids, vitamins and other nutrients to produce these neurotransmitters.

The following are some foods that are known for helping the body during a state of depression:

Complex carbohydrates

Increase your intake of carbs. They boost your energy and improve your serotonin level which controls the feeling good mood. Instead of sweets use whole grains, e.g brown rice, and cereal also peas, beans and vegetables. Sweets increase your blood sugar whereas carbs are digested slowly and stabilizes your energy level. Fluctuations in your blood sugar levels also cause depression.

Lean Meats

Lean meats contain the amino acid referred to as tyrosine, which increases the levels of norepinephrine and dopamine in the brain. These two brain chemicals are responsible for helping you feel more alert and focused. If you are depressed it makes sense to include more lean beef, skinless chicken, turkey etc. in your diet.

Fight depression with Omega-3

Salmon, mackerel and sardines, and other fatty fish containing omega- 3 fatty acids are known for improving mood and memory.

Dark Leafy Green Vegetables

Increase your intake of dark green vegetables such as spinach and romaine lettuce. These contain folate which is a nutrient that may help lower your risk of depression.

Dark Chocolate

If you are a chocolate lover now is the time to increase your intake of dark chocolate. Dark chocolate is known to improve your mood during depression.

In addition to foods you may consider increasing your intake of sunlight. Sunlight helps fight depression – it improves your mood and energy level.
Aerobic exercise – walking, running etc also puts our body in a good mood.

How to adapt to unpredictable circumstances?

Are you able and willing to adapt to unpredictable circumstances?

Every day we are faced with different circumstances, some we predict, but most times some are unpredictable. These are the ones that hurt us the most.

You see life and business do not always go as planned.

You may have thought of everything you want for your life – what you want to study, where you want to work, who you will spend the rest of your life with, where you want to live, or what kind of business you want to have. Then things may not work out, funding may not be available for your studies, you cannot get a job or you lose your job, you cannot find the right partner, or maybe there is a sudden health issue.

If you have your own business you may have everything planned out – what products and services you are going to provide, the medium to be used to deliver these products and services and how much money you will make. Then the market changes, your products or services are not commodity items, customers want more value for their money, the bank will not renew your operating facility or would not extend any additional funding to you.

All these maybe circumstances you did not plan for.

Whilst there is no magic ball to alert you about unpredictable circumstances the following tips may prove helpful:

(1) Be willing to change.

(2) Be flexible and open to new ideas.

(3) View change as an opportunity to move forward.

(4) Explore the different scenarios – your worst case, your most likely case and your best case.

(5) Practice visualizing your desired outcome upfront and see yourself handling any unforeseen challenges.

(6) Prepare your day or your week in advance in that way you can easily adapt to whatever changes that may occur.

(7) Do not overload your day so that if you have to change you end up frustrated.

(8) Keep yourself healthy – having a healthy body enables you to handle the stress of unpredictable circumstances better.

Whatever you decide, just know that you have talents and skills and all that you need to deal with all your unpredictable circumstances.

What problems are you having with your business?

Do you need to increase your client base?

What about ensuring that you maintain your existing clients?

Would this help to fix your problems and help you get more from your business?

If you are somebody who feels that my business has its season and you struggle when the season is not right and you are satisfied with that then this is not for you.

All businesses have their ups and downs. As a business owner it is how you manage this.
This is the technology and information age.

Everyone has a mobile phone.

At any one point in time there are millions of people on their mobile phone. They are on facebook and twitter.

People act on information.

Wouldn’t it be great to get your information on all those phones?

What about whenever you have a sale or a new item comes in?

What if you can get this information to them right away and be sure they are reading about your company offers?

This is what you can do for your business:

Performance Appraisal and Year End Bonus Payments

If you have a performance appraisal system this is appraisal time.

Holiday season or Christmas Bonus. This is what all workers look forward to.

Even if you do not have one this is the time you decide who gets what bonus or salary increase.

There is sometimes excitement if the company had been performing well, however if business was not too good there are some concerned faces walking around.

Those who complete quarterly appraisals would have finalized this by now so staff are aware where they are with their performance and if this was not too good the race is on to improve this last quarter.

Even if you are a manager or supervisor in the company you will need to do an appraisal on yourself.

Appraisals can be so difficult if the process is not managed properly.

Whether you are assessing yourself or your team some things to bear in mind:

– Be sure the information is in the right category on the appraisal form – sales under sales and operations under operations.

– Your statements must be supported by facts e.g – how many new accounts did you or the individual team member bring in? how many times you had to be counselled about your behaviour towards customers or staff and what are the details?

– Be sure to remember all the good things that support your performance. We sometimes focus on the bad things. What about the customer you convince to stay with the company?

– If you or the staff member had been performing just satisfactorily or just meeting the expectations of the job it is difficult to attain an above average or exceeds expectations for the year.

– If you had been constantly supervising the staff member it is a challenge to state that the staff member meets the expectations of the job.

– Remember Friendship does not play a role in appraisals neither is not liking the person.

– If you decide that this staff member needs to move on because they are not suitable for the position it is sometimes tempting to give this person a high performance grade because you do not want to deal with the problem. You can also argue that if you record the weaknesses in the file it would scar the person’s record and no department would want to take them. Whatever you do every action must be done with integrity.

– After everyone receives their bonus and salary increases you still have to work with them so if you have been honest and open with your staff there should be no surprises in the performance appraisal.

– Even if you are not attached to a business and run your own business you need to perform some sort of assessment to provide your staff with an end of year bonus.

– This is also a great time to set the tone with regards to goals etc for the following year.

Good luck with your appraisals. If you need help or do not have an appraisal system send me an email.
