Are you hiding from God?

So many people are hiding from God because either of their brokenness or they want to do their own thing.
I think I may have been hiding from God at one time. You see I was so broken, I got involved in the wrong things and just was too ashamed to get involved with God. There wasn’t much relationship with him, I was doing my own thing.

I wanted my degree, a good job, husband, kids and a big house. God was a, by the way, not much serious thought was given to who he was and much less Jesus.
Some of you may be just under the radar God is there, just there.
In reading the gospel about Jonah I want to believe I may have been like that, Jonah did not want to do what God wanted him to do.

What about you?
We must not forget Saul who was temporally blinded by Jesus and converted to a follower of Jesus Christ.
We cannot hide from God the breath that we breathe is his. According to the Bible, he breathed into Adam. God is the breath of life.
I realize that God is real, the burning bush with Moses and all his interactions with Abraham, Joseph, David, and Solomon to name a few.
Then there is the Jesus bit which you may say happens over 2000 years ago and has no impact now, or when you get a chance after you have all you want you would check him out.
I was listening to the New Testament reading about the Apostle Stephen and it amazed me to know that Stephen saw Jesus sitting at the right hand of God. Now if you are a dying man, you are being stoned to death would you tell the truth? You are being stoned because you spoke about Jesus yet you are still saying that you are seeing him at the right hand of God. This is just one example of many.
I believe whatever you do God is there and he would find you. Open and allow him to help you to take your broken pieces and put them back together. There is no greater experience than this love of God.

Are you missing the truth?

So often you see signs of things happening right in front of your eyes, but you miss the truth.

In your relationship you may see little signs of things not going well – loss of interest, coldness in the relationship, more disagreements, things start to turn violent but in a jokingly way, communication has either reduced or it is now some grunts or yes or no. What is the truth behind all this?

On the job – people stop talking when you get close, those you lime with are now chummy, chummy with the boss, even those you supervise are always with the boss. The boss is now bypassing you and going straight to them with job-related issues. Uncharitable remarks are being passed. You start getting blamed for all kinds of things. The signs are there but you are missing the truth.

In your volunteer groups, you get the stuff to do which is no big deal, but nobody wants to help. People in the group do not even read or pay attention when you circulate information dealing with stuff that you have been assigned. What is the truth behind all these occurrences? Are you missing something?

You see the truth is always right in front of you and it is up to you to identify it. Missing the truth goes way back to the bible, Jesus and the Pharisees and the disciples. Jesus went about healing people, even raising people from the dead, turning water into wine and feeding thousands of people from a small boy’s lunch. He said he was the son of God yet not many believed because they could not see the truth. In the Gospel of Luke (24:13-35) Jesus walked with two of the disciples and they did not recognize him. The truth of his resurrection was right in front of them and they missed it. Sometimes it is hard to see the truth because you are blinded by your pride, lack of understanding, lack of faith, and fear. You prefer to take the easy route. We see the riots over the death of Floyd, it should have been peaceful but turned out violent in some states. What is the truth behind this? Are all persons rioting because of the death of a Blackman? Or are they venting their pent up rage, anger, and frustration as a result of other issues? Sometimes you sweep your instincts (that little voice that says umm – something may not be right) and red flags under the carpet. You say to yourself – no way; that could not be so, that person would never do that, or like those (the Pharisees) in the bible either Jesus is crazy or he is the devil or the disciples are drunk because they speak of Jesus and the resurrection.

You need to come to terms with the truth. Do you need to check on you? Your tone? Your mannerism? Your expectations of that person or things? What are you aiming for and is this situation providing that or is it keeping you back? Is there an opportunity for you to progress? Jesus offered the opportunity to live a better life, to have eternal life. So many of us miss this. We are so concerned about how it would look, what people would say, or that we would be missing out on life. Have you missed this? What other opportunities have you missed? Opportunities to love, to be in a happy relationship, to help people in need or just to be a better version of you.

Sense of Loss

Feeling the sense of loss in the COVID 19 lockdown is natural .

So many people have lost their loved ones and feel such a deep sense of loss. We are confined even though some places have started to open. We are looking for help.

We have not realized that we already have the help we need. Jesus is with us through all things including our sense of loss. In the bible, the two persons who Jesus appeared to, on the road did not recognize him. We need to open our hearts and mind so we could recognize that Jesus is with us.

There is no need to feel a sense of loss as Jesus is there to move us from being frustrated, despair, and fear to being loved and a sense of hope. Open your eyes and heart and recognize that he is there. Look for the ways to be grateful, to see God’s graces and favors in your life. When we go to church and participate in the Eucharist – the breaking of the bread, it is said that Jesus is there but we do not see him unless our eyes are open by faith to see him.

Let us ask God to open our eyes so we could see Jesus – to reach out and touch him and say that we love him. It could be hard if you do not believe but you just have to look around at the beauty and faces of people, listen to the graces and favors they have experienced from God.

Ask God to help you to see – open your eyes. It is said if you believe you would see. So ask for your eyes to be opened so that the sense of loss could be turned into a sense of peace, love, and joy.

How to clear your judgement

Anger and resentment is deadly

Having clear judgement helps us make right decisions as we go about our daily lives. That is our free will to make decisions and getting angry and resentful is also part of life . Things may not go as you planned it or as you want it to be and it is natural to get angry and upset.

Do you know when you get upset your mind is so clogged up there is nothing you can’t do? Some people after they commit a crime cannot figure out what happened. Even people they love so much they would destroy them and not recognize at that point in time what is happening. Some people are so angry that the person they pass their anger on may not necessarily be the person they are angry with, it just happened that that is the first person who crossed their path after the anger built up. They may also be angry with themselves and the anger just keeps building up and you cross their path and bam, as they say ‘all hell break lose’.

So how do you deal with this anger and resentment that has built up inside of you. You can get upset then move on, no tantrums, no yelling, screaming or punching because you recognize that you have to change how you look at things.

Acting out that anger is a different issue. When you are angry such that you want to knock the person you are angry with off the map, or wish that they were dead or some awful thing happens to them then there is a huge problem.

The first thing is any violent action towards the person not only hurts or destroys that person which of course you want to do, but also hurts and destroys you. It mat hurt your reputation, your character and if it reaches the authorities chances are your entire life could be affected. Not only your life but that of your family, and this is huge if you have children.

The second thing is that if you continue to hold this anger it destroys not only your reputation but your body. It is like a form of darkness, a virus or parasite eating you up inside when you see or hear about that person , you relive the entire situation. The nervous system starts to go haywire, you cannot think clearly, your head feels like it is bursting, soon all sorts of illnesses start to show up.

It is not an easy thing to get rid of or even reduce anger and resentment. Some suggestions that help me:

  • take time out for yourself;
  • take time to cry, worry, punch some punching bags but put a deadline on this then move on;
  • break down the issue – what about it caused you to be angry? Is it true or not true. If it is true what can you do about it? If it is not true then forget it and move on;
  • have you realized that the person you are so angry with is going about their life happy as ever and you are there fuming with anger;
  • do you have the guts to be the better person and apologize first, even if you were wrong? Two wrongs do not make a right;
  • seek guidance and counsel. Find a life coach.
  • remember we are all connected, the same God who made that person made you. There would always be some disagreement, but there is forgiveness. If God can forgive you what is keeping you from forgiving the other person.

Forgiveness is so hard to do but it is a choice, you see anything that is good for us sometimes shows up as hard work. We believe that we have the right to strike back when someone tells us something that is hurtful or when they do something to us that is hurtful, but this is so far from the truth. We are a better person when we forgive. Forgiveness and love changes everything. Try it, you maybe surprised.

God does not sleep

Have you ever heard the comment ‘God does not sleep’?

I Heard this from my Mom when I was growing up and even as an adult. When things happen she would say do not worry God may wear pajamas but “God does not sleep’.

This saying is so true.

Now I have never really paid attention to this comment until recently. One night lying in bed it dawned on me that we all breathe the same air, it is one world and the breath is God’s breath. Now, I have read and heard that God is omnipresent on more than one occasions but as the saying goes it went through one and ear and straight out of the other ear.

If God is omnipresent and in my country it is night and in another country it is day , how could God sleep if he promised to be with us always. So there is wisdom in what my Mom used to say. God rest her soul.

At one time it did flash across my mind that God maybe sleeping because I was praying very late in the night , but now I am more comfortable to praying and asking for help anytime, any where because I know he hears me. I feel now that it is not that he is sleeping but I maybe sleeping and missing out on all his blessings. You should try asking for help. There is nothing he does not know about you. Ask him to forgive you and help you. The great thing about this is that you could also ask for help for other people – your family, friends etc.

There are so many instances recorded in the Bible and also current examples where people have received help for themselves and the persons they have prayed for. I am not saying that all your prayers would be answered because God is the only one who knows what plans he has for you or for the persons who you are praying for. All I am saying is to ask him.

What is your choice?

There are always choices to make in life, every second, every minute, every day. We cannot get away from it.

It is amazing though that with life there is no sitting on the fence you have to make a choice. I grew up thinking there was grey but as I get older there is really no grey, it is either white or black, light or darkness. However you want to put it, say it or think about it.

Whatever decisions you make daily can take you closer to life or to death. Although we all have to die someday but I am referring to eternal life.

If your image is like mine God is always good and is totally for abundant life then the idea is to try to make the right choices.

This can be very tricky because we go about our day’s activities without pondering or stopping to decide how to make our choices. So life has many tricks and this is one of them, it is your decision because of your free will but God is always there with open arms. Being such a loving father he would never turn his back on you. I can be very indecisive at times but knowing that God is always there for me is a huge comfort.

I have to remember though that Satan tactics are lies and deceit so I have to constantly be on the look out for ways he is using to lead me astray.

I continue to pray that God would guide me in all that I do and I pray the same for you.

People hear what they want to hear

Most people hear what they want to hear. This allows them to avoid difficult truths, not knowing that by recognizing these truths they can take action to correct whatever difficulty there is and live a better life.

What truth that you do not want to hear or that you shove under the carpet? You have been struggling with your life but do not realize that your mother or father went through the same struggles, your Uncle or Aunt had the same issue. Even some family members before them had the same issue. I guess you would say this is coincidence . Have you ever wondered why this is happening to your family? Certainly all these things cannot be genetic. If you would like to learn more about this leave a comment and we would get back to you.

You want to hear the good and nice things but on the side you are frustrated to the max. Take a good look at what you are trying to achieve – where is it leading to? Who would benefit?

Help is always there and comes in various means but sometimes you may have sonblock – Jesus Christ can’t help because you have blocked him off. To get to the good things you have to hear the bad – you have to hear what’s wrong with your life or your family life, and you must want to change. Lies and more lies

Have you been telling yourself you are not good enough, you are not worthy or loved, or God would not forgive you. Things just not going right. You are not lucky.

These are lies. Luck has nothing to do with your life.

Stop and take look at the things that have happened. What decision did you have to make for this to happen? Was it your decision? Did someone put a gun to your head and say do this or that? Think about it – you have freewill. God would not interfere with that unless you come to him. He is there waiting to help you.

No – you decided that this is what you wanted to do and you went ahead with it. We all make mistakes, wrong decisions – maybe costly decisions, may even change the direction for where we want to go in life.

The thing is that Satan always wants you to believe that God was the one responsible for getting you to make those decisions, and now he is getting you to believe that because of those decisions you are not good enough or worthy enough . These are all lies.

Why would God want you to struggle and why does he want to torment you? If he is your Father and is good and merciful – ask yourself – why is he doing these things to me?

God is loving, generous , compassionate and merciful – he want the best for you. He can take all your mistakes and turn them into something good. All you need to do say is – Lord Jesus I am sorry for all the things I have done, please come into my life, help me, heal me and fill me with your presence.

Then everyday start thanking God for all the things you are grateful for and see what happens.

What is your past saying?

Have you ever wondered why you had to go through all those bad experiences .

What was God trying to tell me? Should I be more patient, have more compassion, be more generous.?

Your past is there to develop you – show you the way, but sometimes it is as though we have been blind folded and we do not see all the lessons to be learnt. Instead we see pain, anger, frustration, envy.

Take a good look at your past and try to uncover what you should have learnt? See where you are right now. If those past experiences did not happen where would you be? Can you thank your past for getting you to where you are now.

Life is short, don’t dwell on the past, uncover the learnings and move on.

What would happen if you can have the life that you have always wanted?
